Black Band Bourbon Whiskey

My Notes

Black Band has only been around for a couple years and the bourbon (and rye) are pretty young. There is some flavor on this boutbon but with age I think it will really shine. Maybe at 4-6 years.

But this is a pretty good bourbon, just not for the price point. On the nose, there is something familiar, i swear it smells like Double Bubble bubble gum, with some citrus and cereal grains on the backend. On the tongue its really light cereal grains, light wood, like cedar and a little citrus. A lot left to develop here. The finish is sweetness and citrus with a little bite from the alcohol.

On a second sip, this bourbon almost reminds me of a more elevated Jack Daniels. There is some flavor that keeps reminding me of drinking a jack and coke.

Nohting to write home about on this one. I will be keeping my eye on the distillery to watch for higher aged expressions. For the price, skip this bourbon.

How to Taste
With your whiskey at room temperature, put the glass near your nose and close your eyes and inhale. What do you smell? Drink a sip, just enough to cover your tounge and swish it around front, left and right. then down the hatch. What do you taste? If it burns a little, maybe try to add a couple drops of water. Otherwise, try again - usually after the initial burn, you may get some of the flavors you are looking for.
