Peerless Single Barrel Bourbon

  • November 15th, 2023

My Notes

I picked up this bottle at the distillery in Louisville. The fruit on the nose and pallete are really intersting, and the high proof gives it a nice subtle burn as you sip it. As I was looking this up for the fact sheet, I realized they arent producing single barrel picks right now for mass sale.

Blackberry or blueberry ripe sour fruit on the nose and tounge. Vanilla, honey and some good oak woodsy flavors come through strong. Strangely the finsih is like marshmallow or those sugar halloween bones from the old days.

The price is pretty high on this, and as I said, I cant find this for sale right now. But this is a good sipping whiskey, maybe adding a drop or two of water or an ice cube. If you see a single barrel at a bar, maybe give it a try.

How to Taste
With your whiskey at room temperature, put the glass near your nose and close your eyes and inhale. What do you smell? Drink a sip, just enough to cover your tounge and swish it around front, left and right. then down the hatch. What do you taste? If it burns a little, maybe try to add a couple drops of water. Otherwise, try again - usually after the initial burn, you may get some of the flavors you are looking for.
