Bardstown Fusion Series #7

My Notes

Bardstown is one of the more interesting distilleries right now, with their fusion sereis blending together various bourbons, some from their warehouse and some from other distilleries to make a masterful drink. The bottle I have right now is Batch 7.

From their website, batch #7 breaks down like this Bardstown Fusion Series #7 Mashbill

Batch 7 is one of those rare bourbons that dont lean in on the sweetness factor. The oak and leather are very present on this drink, with a mix of carmalized sugar and toasted wood hiding behind the primary flavors. I would consider this a more advanced bourbon, where the ABV is a little higher and the flavor profile is a bit different than what you might think a bourbon is.

Bardstown is unique, I would prefer to sip this neat or with a single ice cube if you want to smooth out some of the alcohol burn. This could make for an interesting cocktail, playing with the wood forward flavors.

How to Taste
With your whiskey at room temperature, put the glass near your nose and close your eyes and inhale. What do you smell? Drink a sip, just enough to cover your tounge and swish it around front, left and right. then down the hatch. What do you taste? If it burns a little, maybe try to add a couple drops of water. Otherwise, try again - usually after the initial burn, you may get some of the flavors you are looking for.
